New venture
Took Erna to the club for Sunday Lunch today. The atmosphere was beautiful and the outlook in the fine weather was unbeatable. It was excellent but would have been much better if Domenic had been able to put on a proper carvery, with the meat carved off the joint. This needs more and regular clientele. Next Sunday is Father's Day, so book in, dress the old boy in his Sunday best, get all the family together and come up in such numbers that we have a proper carvery. See you there. |

Carvery, food, sausages!Maybe whoever is organising these culinary pleasures can get in touch with the website and we'll advertise them and hopefully get more people up to the club. We NEED more people coming to the club. It was amazing last Thursday to see so many people at the AGM - all members for ages - but who have very rarely been to the club in the last season and who certainly haven't been on the touchline supporting the lads. The club has over 500 members and families. If we all get along 3 or 4 more times than last season and have a couple of pints the club's income will increase by thousands. SUPPORT YOUR CLUB. |

Yes Phil, Bangers and Mash with Onion Gravy was on the menu last Sunday and, as the actress said to the bishop, you never came!! |

I suspect this event was not advertised to prevent sausage enthusiasts coming. |

I am sorry I was not able to attend, but it certainly sounds an interesting venture to the Memsahib and I. May I ask if the wine list was wide ranging, and was the port of some vintage? |

Wine List, Port. Who cares. SAUSAGES man SAUSAGES. I do hope they are of good quality - pork with a hint of apple. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. |

There is much talk of "support your club", "our club" etc and indeed at the AGM there was much "heated discussion" on photographs to be hung in "our clubroom". Many people are putting hard work into making the club more appealing and inviting to current and potentially new members. Lots of ideas are being put forward for putting bums on seats to create extra income for "our club". Just one question though to all those members at the AGM "demanding" that the photo's and memorabilia be reinstated in "OUR club", and to the newly elected committee members, who I must say I have hardly ever seen in the club or at pitchside on match days, where was their support on saturday when the rugby was on? I counted no more than 15 people, who I hasen to add were the "usual faces". In saying that though, the atmosphere was great. So to the guys who complained about fee increases, the decor, the lack of club support I just wanna say "Action Speaks Louder Than Words". |

I am reliably informed that the sausages used by Domenic are made in one of HM corrective establishments for women. We had them at the Thursday lunch for the U17s match against Tatra Smichov and they were superb. They are no doubt made in the same way that Cuban women roll cigars. Beats the taste of apple, eh Phil? |

Observer, I don't know who you are, but a number of those you didn't recognise were founding & long standing members and they and many others at the AGM have supported the club over the years. We would not have a club without them. They have given their time as current members should do so now. As for your comment about the newly elected committee members, of which I am one, most are at the club over the weekend - either on Saturdays or on Sundays with the junior sections, and some of us are also still playing so perhaps you've been looking in the wrong place if you haven't seen them! Why wasn't I at the club to watch the rugby on Saturday? Well with a young family who want to be outside doing different activities it is sometimes hard to justify a couple of hours or so at the club watching TV, especially when Sundays are taken up with the boys having cricket coaching in the mornings and me playing in the afternoons. If & when I have time I will be at the club. |

My message was not meant to be taken as one of criticism and for that I apologise to anybody who feels criticised. I was just using a hammer to crack a peanut in trying to point out that while everybody tries to encourage use of the club there appears, at times, to be apathy when it actually comes down to putting bums on seats or feet at the pitchside. I wholeheartedly stand corrected at my comment with regards to the committee members, new and old, as having re-read my observation it does not come across as was intended for which I again apologise as I know a lot of the committee members do a lot work behind the scenes. Thankyou Andy for taking the time to respond. |

Having tasted the food on offer last week I can thoroughly recommend it. The menu was as follows (as best as I can remember) and it is anticipated it will be similar for Father's Day Soup (can't remember which one-sorry) Prawn & Crayfish Cocktail Deep Fried Tiger Bay Prawns ***** Choice of Roast Lamb, Beef or Pork with Yorshire Pudding etc etc Sausage and Mash ***** Profiteroles with Chocolate Sauce Banana Split Spotted Dick with Custard ***** Coffee The cost of the above is currently £6 for one course £8 for two and £10 for all three, these prices are early bookers special prices; prices could increase slightly after the trial period. To make a booking for this Sunday phone Jill at the club 01303 266887 As John said the outlook was fantastic, food great and there is plenty of room for one or two extra! |

Some people would say that sausages sandwiches should be added to this menu. Other people would say, the chance of getting a sausage sandwich at F.R.U.C. is about as remote as our revered webmaster starting to train, playing for the vets, and scoring a try. |

'Children's rates', that's good, my wonderful son costs me an absolute fortune to feed. By the way, he cannot play anymore - bad knees- it's a Scottish thing. |

How nice to see my good old Indian friend, Aarjee Bhaji back in circulation and ticking like a meter. He has not been well of late, but the higher his moaning rate the healthier he is, so he must be recovering well, which pleases me. I am older than Aarjee and got to know him through his brother, Unyun, who was good friend of mine at school and went on to make a fortune in the Indian restaurant business. Arjee did not do so well in the wool business, which probably accounts for the fact that he feels life has not been kind enough to him - moan, moan! |
