Really hoping Copnell is back next season. And Holmshaw. Mind you, with Jones going to Ilkeston Town Dolby needs to bring in a central defender or two really urgently. We coped last season because we were able to bring in Lowton from SUFC and because we changed to a 3-5-2 system that utilised Boulter as a centre-half. I think we'll greatly miss Tom Jones next season but I'm really not fussed that he's taken Paul Smith and Danny Haystead with him. Smith was a chronic ball-waster, always giving possession away, and I was never really sure why we signed Haystead in the first place. Both Kearney and Holmshaw are better keepers. |

Well we've had a bloody good return out of this "chronic ball-waster" then, I don't remember any other Uni South left-back being in the same league as Smudge. The free kicks, the penalties, the crosses and cross-field balls, the assuredness in possession, he was the most complete player we had last season and I'm absolutely gutted if this latest news proves true  . Have you confused him with Jamie Smith by any chance?!Agree with you about Haystead mind. |

Where did you get that about Copnell from?? Gutted if it's true. As for Paul Smith, it confirms his departure on Ilkeston's website. |

Can't believe that you all have faild to mention Holmesy! the service he has given Club surely deserves a mention??? I for one wish him all the very best just shame he's gone to the other side. |

Jon, Holmesie will always be Darren Holmes - never Holmshaw (Shilts) - just as the other side will always be Hallam - never Retford (or for that matter Stocksbridge), no matter what certain people try to convince themselves with.

Darren, looking forward to seeing you, Tev, Ryan and all the other Clubbies when SFC next play our nearest and dearest. It should confuse me nicely to have a host of familiar faces on both sides. Mind you I'm already confused enough seeing another Jon has begun posting  To unconfuse meself I'd better start using the "Sloop" moniker Stu came up with.
