I've just got back from my week in Majorca - congrats to the seconds on finishing runners-up. Considering that most people were talking about just surviving in the Premier League this year, it's been a great achievement. Next Year Lads. Well done again. Mick

2nd XI batting averages now on 2nd XI page - Bowling averages will be done as soon as my brain starts functioning again. 1st XI averages should be posted sometime tomorrow. The 3rds will have to wait until I can get the book off JT, who borrowed it to look up the tour scores!!!

jt borrowing the book to check tour scores- sadness personified. hello my old and dear friend michael fisher, i do hope you are well and although i have not posted here for a record amount of time i am however very interested in what you are getting up to. did you enjoy your season skipper (x)? i see a few sorry looking stats in the 4ths averages but a few things that made me smile, also there are one or two young lads with some excellent prospects (sorry paul not you, your past being called a lad). would like to request a few more ask docs or film reviews as they do tickle me, any chance? see you next season fish, in the mean time dont go wasting away! p.s sorry about the abusive name but i was a little frustrated that the forum has died a death, the place where i was once a god amoungst sad people who sat at computer desks all day - where are the roads to freedom? |

Hi Fid, Nice to see you back on the old board. I'll see about some new 'Ask The Doc' and film reviews ASAP. My season has been one of highs and lows - but mostly lows!! My personal highest high was getting 21 in one match and equalling my highest ever score. Next best high was having 'The Express' back in harness for just one 4th XI match. Lows - 38 all out against Pontlanfraith, groin going 'ping' on tour, having to meet with Sully Community Council on about a million occasions. In all seriousness, seeing the junior element actually enjoying themselves on the pitch (in spite of the results) was the real bonus - next year the world! Exits stage left to the strains of Frank Sinatra, "Regrets, I've had a few, but then again, too few to mention......"

You guessed it Brucie - but I think the actual running time will be 3 hours and 27 minutes! If I can find the strength to pull on the whites then I may just throw my hat in the ring again for the 4th XI captaincy, although I may go for the 1st XI as a surprise candidate If I do play next year I will have to purchase a new pair of cricket shoes - mine are on their last legs (or should that be last feet?) so if anyone has a pair of size 9s going cheap let me know. See you all tonight chaps - bring your money tyere will be a raffle (YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED) Mick And don't forget the Glebe Field meeting at 5.30, all you Glebers.... |

Good fun at the dinner. Sorry about the microphone, but it wasn't my fault, honest!! The raffle went well (no sign of Jemima's bat, though.) Pie's speech was quite short- only about 4 hours long this year. Keep fit during the winter chaps (I know I will!!)

mick let me first comment the night went well pitty about the lack of lock in. Its nice to see the club coming on as a club now hopefully the glebe field will be the icing on the cake we badly need it as you can see how much money we actually spend in the sully inn as we have a lot of **** heads (CRACKING FLAGS).The microphone incident was **** it was no problem for myself you actually need some practise on the microphone Michael,if you are going to lead us into this dream (THE GLEBE FIELD).I definately think you should not hang your boots up as i see you averaging more than SIR GARFIELD SOBERS now you have settled down in the division, doing a great job mick keep up the good work till we meet again. |

Hello all you teetotal cricketers out there. In a desperate attempt to keep the club spirit going during the winter months, I'm proposing that we have a get together at the Sully Inn on Saturday 16th December (evening). Dress optional (but don't wear a dress if you don't want to...) If anyone feels like joining me let me know, because I don't want to end up like Billy No Mates. See you o the 16th - I hope! Mick

Hello to you Micky, been a long time since I last posted on the old forum and I have to say it feels good to be back in the fold. Nice idea about the **** up, you picked the perfect date as far as i'm concerned because I finish uni for 6 weeks (yes I have 6 weeks for xmas) the day before, also will there be an ashes match in action at that time as a lock in with the crick on somewhere would go down very nicely. Anyway Mick while i'm here I shall ask how the league AGM as i'm assuming that you in your capacity as Chairman and The Pie in his capacity as 'Chairman in lurking' were in attendence? I trust there was no scandal with regards to the club etc. |

Mick
Nov 29th, 2006 - 11:03 AM |
The AGM was interesting. Two things spring to mind: a few clubs were more than a bit miffed that a certain club was not punished for some player registration 'irregularities' (we kept out of it as no bugger came to our defence when we were in the mire last year.) Still it was nice to see the committee squirm for a few minutes. Also, the anticipated motion to make the league 'open' (i.e. allow paid players) was not forthcoming. Instead we were presented with a motion that simplified the registration process and allows more flexibility in the matter of the player's home address - you know, the very thing we were relegated over! The motion was carried. See you, Mick |

Hello Mick, I have been asked by our esteemed colleague Mr J.Gee to post that he can't make the 15th as it's his works xmas do and that he would prefer the 16th if possible as he fancies a large one, I know I was surprised to hear that aswell considering his well known sobriety. As for me i'm easy on the issue, but if you keep me informed I will feed it back to renton as I will no doubt speak to him again in the week. |

A leader of men, (and juniors) a man to pit his wits against some of the finest there are,a person with vast experience in all forms of the game. A well liked aand respected person and above all a fine cricketer. This can only be one person the Cadoxton Express !!!!!!! |

Nice to see some familiar faces on the forum and sad to see a few missing. Had a day off today so managed to find a few minutes to look at the greatest web page of all. No surprises at the agm apart from me getting drunk again on a monday night!!! Looking forward to some good crick in the summer as the winters activities down under was border line ****e. maybe border line would have been a good idea, then again we probably would of lost at that aswell. Not having been to nets myself it has been pointed out that the stiffs are ever present sorry i meant never there. Come on boys we need to be ready to take the crown this year and take the smile off the smug facews at St Fagans........Come on boys lets av it |

Fellow Centurions, one and all. The details for the race night are as follows. The cost of the ticket should be £12 with a group of 15 or more, which we would hopefully manage. The cost of the bus should be no more than £8, depending on final numbers. Therefore if there are any interested parties please can you give the £20 to myself at nets, training, signing on night or in trap one - I don't mind. And I am not bothering with deposits, too much extra hassle for the low costings. Any spare money from that £20 will go on slabs of ale or a couple of group bets in Chepstow. I will be looking to book tickets for this event and confirm the bus in early May so anyone interested should give me their money by end of April - no pay no hay as they say in the racing fraternity!!! The first race is 6-20 pm and the pick up time will be 3-45pm from the Cwm Talwg pub as this will allow for stragglers and traffic on the way to Chepstow. Any request for further pick-up points will be politely refused and sent to the stables to pasture. With this in mind I would advise race-goers to book at least a half day off work on the day of racing to make the off. Last race is 8-55pm and pick up will be about 10pm from Chepstow, but I can't see that being an issue with the masses as I imagine you will all be smashed. It is Caribbean night as well and I would recommend we make an effort to dress up as this would make the night that much more of a hoot, everyone agree?? Any questions please ring me or contact this shambles we call a forum and will endeavour to get back to you. Lets all make an effort boys and girls it could be a thouroughly good event, and finally last one out the stalls stinks !!!!! |

Almost a month and no posts - come on boys and girls, it's nearly time for a new season, let's get busy... Now, don't forget 3 things: 1. Training day on Saturday at the Sports Centre, followed by a jolly evening of debauchery and chips. 2. Glamorgan vs UCCE at Burnham Avenue on Thursday 12th April (all help gratefully accepted) 3. Quiz Night at the Sully Inn (proceeds to the club) on Friday 13th April - 7.30pm. Mick

Apr 13th, 2007 - 9:07 AM |
Hello everybody out there in Cricketland! The Glamorgan vs UCCE game was a success yesterday. The Pieman outdid himself with a slight over ordering of the grub, but no matter, the 1sts will be snacking on pasta and rice for the first month of the season! Sell-by-date? Who's bothered about something like that? An early contender for quote of the season has to be Donny's question to Jamie: 'How many stitches are in that flag?' Quimby celebrated the passing of his teenage years by not bringing any cake for us to eat. Still, I got a lovely picture of him doing the reverse sweep!!See you all at the Quiz of the Century tonight at the Inn. |
