AFF results in the local paper
Hello all,
Recently, Ive noticed that the AFF results have not been in the Times and Citerzen Paper, infact, quite a lot has been missed out over recent weeks, are they no longer going to be published?
Thanks

Re: AFF results in the local paper
A few weeks ago I received a mail for the Sports Editor informing us that the Times & Citizen is cutting back on the Sport Digest. I made our case but it sounds like it may have fallen on deaf ears - pity!

Steve
Perhaps he was too busy watching the olympics to respond?

Re: AFF results in the local paper
We could start a campaign 'Bring back the Flyers Results'. I would suggest we go to BoS however that would go against pretty much everything I believe in!!
Cheers

Re: AFF results in the local paper
Hey all
I was again annoyed last week, there was a full listing of Bedford Harriers results (lierally a whole colum) and then there was only a little bit about the Flyers
What have we done wrong?

Re: AFF results in the local paper
Have pursued this one further.
The decision to cut was not taken at above the Sport Editor's head. We are not the only club that is unhappy - the Sports Editor is fielding the flak and trying to give athletics clubs equal coverage.
All I can suggest is that members try to appeal to a wider audiencew whenwriting their race reports and share some race pics with results@affrunningclub.org.uk to send to the paper. This should help to make our stories more printable and move our profile back to where it was. HH

Re: AFF results in the local paper
Hey people
Thanks for this. Before I joined the flyers, I would always look in the local paper to see the results of the flyers and that tempted me to join.
Its a good advert for people who are interested in running and may get more people involved.
If I was writing the paper, I would actually chuck the race reports in as well, this would then show readers how much enjoyment and achievement there is in sport.
OK fair play, when you get a race report thats full of moans and growns then you just leave them out.....

Perhaps we should advertise for the post of part-time press secretary
You'd need someone who is eloquent, gregarious understands PR and has some literary talent (all of which lets me off the hook)...**** if only it was based purely in good looks and charm. I'd be in!
Yours tongue in cheek and foot in mouth
