A fragile state.
Well gentlemen, I find myself in this very, very similar position again. Trying to motivate, trying to lift spirits, hoping for a reaction. When in all honesty we are at a point of the season where this should be the last thing that needs to be done. A bit of fine tuning here and there from the managers - yes!! But motivaional speeches from me 2 games in is ridiculous!!
Pre season frienlies were by all accounts deemed as promising performances. Results againgst stiff opporsition were impressive. Fitness looked good and generally we looked sharp.
First 2 games of the season are here and gone and the reports from those that saw & played the games were not by any stretch of the imagination a fraction of those in preseason.
Is it only me that looks forward to Saturday so much that Monday - Friday seems like a blur?? Am I the only person that missed meeting up with the boys on a Saturday for football? the banter of the dressing room, having the chance to use my sh1t mood for the week and 'take it out' on those that dare stand in my way??
When there seems to be a lack of interest on the park & we are less than 1/10 of the way into the season then every single player has to look themselves and the reason they where the Fletching Shirt on their back on a saturday. If it is for a game of football with your mates and thats it............. That aint good enough! If it is because you just fancy a few hours away from the missus, then that too aint good enough! You are letting yourself, your team, your mates and more importantly the club down.
When you pull on the Orange shirt no matter what day of the week it is, then with that shirt comes responsibility! A responsibility that says you will give every ounce of energy, fight, grit and determination to that squad of players that share your colours, you adopt a never say die attitude. You make sure that you are not being carried and that you carry no one!
I have taken news of the 1st team results badly as so much has been promising. I look forward to being back with you all on Saturday.
WE OWE IT TO THE MANAGER AND TO OURSELVES! NOTHING LESS THAN 3 POINTS!!

Re: A fragile state.
Glad you have taken the time to pen this Monkey, although how many people this message reaches is questionable, as there seems to have been a downturn in forum usage – something I will try and rectify.
The main thing is that the club has gone through a major overhaul this summer. First team and second team getting new management. The reserves have settled well and i think this is because of players dropping down who were playing first team last year, and also fact Clarky has been with club for a number of years now so has an idea of how things work. With regards to the first team Rhys is new to all this and is getting used to the players he has at his disposal, they way we play together etc, the first team has also had a couple of additions and all this combined means it will take a few games to get the side settled.
Personally I think that pre-season could have gone better and would have aided the development of playing together, in terms of defining ‘first’ and ‘second’ team games – yes we did well, but it was often case that there was a mixture of players playing.
Also I think pre-match preparations haven’t helped. We have been waiting around for players to turn up who are running late and it puts everything back and we are running behind, leaving not much time for talks, warm ups etc, which I think has a bearing on the past two games.
Both games this season we have conceded a couple of goals really early on and are up against it before the game has really started. I don’t think it is a question of pride, interest and whatever you else you state. This will soon change when we start playing as a team, get settled and get a couple of wins under our belts. This league is a bit unknown this year, anyone could win it, and I think the two teams we have played are certainly capable. Also we will get access to clubhouse, so meeting up after game will aid the whole team bonding thing.
Good to see you back with the Firsts – your case is the perfect example of how a proper football club should operate, with players dropping down and coming up between teams and you have gone about it with the right attitude, which no doubt you will transfer to the pitch on Saturday.
You training tonight?

Re: A fragile state.
Jimfuz,
I hear your thoughts! and to some extent agree with them!
But I don't think for one second that we are the only team to get a new manager/players.
As for people being late, then that comes back to the responsibility I mentioned. A sense of pride!!
I honestley believe that we need to stop making excuses for players and results. As a club we have a tendancy to protect people from reality and that as fully grown men we need to made accountable. Managers cannot take the blame for a defeat, its the players and the manager.
Its comes down to the 5 P's
Proper
Planning
Prevents
********
Performance
Life as a Fletching player is quite easy going, there are a lack of rules for players to abide by.
Things like clean boots, punctuality, paying up on time. Looking the part i.e. Fletching polo shirts.
If you go out on the pull on a Saturday night you don't wear dirty shoes, tracksuit bottoms and a T shirt you used last week for painting the lounge. You go out with your shoes shiny, your best shirt ironed and your favourite pair of pulling pants. The mentality is simple. If you look the part, you play the part, if you look professional, you feel professional all these things affect confidence and performance. We need to adopt alot these rules to our club, which with the backing of the committee as CDO I will be doing shortly!!!
It was the story last year and its the same again this year. Lack of preparation is costing us. Whether it be a warm up, or simply listening to managerial instructions.
I aint pointing fingers at any particular individual, but we need to pull our fingers out of our Arses before we become the whipping boys!!!

Re: A fragile state.
A fragile state my **** Monkey !! look how we started last season and we will see a simulair trend.
your lucky to get back in the team as the shirt was peoples to lose after you missed most of the preseason but top marks to you mate for dropping down and proving a point cant say the same for the players who haven't performed to the best of thier ability yet but we are a team and we win and lose as a team not individuals, the blame for the defeats goes to the team and not one player !! like wise the defending starts from the front and the attacking starts from the back.
we will bounce back and start winning and with a bit of luck get to a cup final,
Up the village !!
We are Fletching super Fletching from the rec !

Re: A fragile state.
Bl**dy hell lads, crisis 2 games in, can't be good!
From my many years at Fletching I think it is vital that the team stay positive. It is never easy to start the season with so many away games, & it would appear that you have faced to teams who will seriously push for promotion this year. Remember The Archers have always been a team to reckon with on their own patch.
This time last year it was a lot worse, but you can only take every game as it comes!! Next step... make sure you boys get 3 points this saturday!
