First of all, I am new to this forum, so my apologies if I say anything naive, illogical, or not radical enough.
I am not speaking on behalf of anyone, just stating my own opinion to your statements.
"Zionist Israelis DON'T WANNA make Peace": I don't know why you believe you understand people's motivations, but I doubt what you say is true. Hamas is viewed as the enemy to Israel and the Jews based on what they say and do. Their charter statement and their ministers call for the destruction of Israel, and they even do it in English. This is not insinuated or hinted at, it is fact. That being said, if I were a Palestinian in Gaza or the Judea/Samaria I don't know who I would have voted for. There may be some radical Jews that are blood thirsty, but no one in their right mind would choose conflict over Peace.
"the 'partner' for peace, israel, is not willing to negotiate on real practical terms": It is debatable whether the last try by Clinton and Ross was the best deal Arafat could have gotten, but for sure it was the best he'd been offered (all attendees agreed, even the Tunisians that were present). Can you just imagine what could have been had he signed on? The Palestinian people would probably be arguing about taxes and potholes rather then Hamas vs Fatah.
"The Right of Return is not just a 'right', it's a 'human right' and the refugees should have the right to decide their fate": I agree with you, what has happened to the Palestinians in Arab refugee camps is a terrible catastrophe. That being said, like many other cases in history, they probably will not have a choice. If there were a Palestinian state today and half those refugees return to it the Palestinian's economy might crumble. As wrong as it might be, my Syrian (Jewish) neighbor will never be allowed back to his homeland, nor will my Israeli friend whose family was forced to flee Baghdad. And I doubt I can claim my grandfathers land back in Russia either. Avoiding the debate whether they left voluntarily, sold their land, or had their land stolen, they should have been allowed to assimilate immediately.
"today the Israeli occupation forces threw tear gas at demostrators against the Apartheid Wall. Is that Israeli democracy?": Yes, that is democracy. I wasn't there to witness it, but use of corporal force is a necessary evil. It could have been much worse, take a look at what happened to the city of Hama, Syria in 1982.
Thanks,
Robby |
