Taking opiates abroad

I have had one of our long term pain patients contact me today to ask where she stands with regards to traveling to the USA with her medication (will customs let it in etc?)

She is on oxynorm and oxycontin.

Anyone know the legal status of such travel?

Re: Taking opiates abroad

Here you go!

Taking medicines with you when you go abroad. HM Customs, click here

In addition to the advice given in the above you should also bear in mind that there may be restrictions on the volume of any liquid being carried onto a flight. (not a problem if she is taking oxynorn tablets, but ? might be if it's the liquid version)
