Reggae Artist on the RISE in MISSISSIPPI!!!

"UZOMA indeed is hot! Like the sun, he is pure energy. Highstepping and jumping throughout the set, the dreadlocked and Africa-garbed front man is always on one foot or the other - never both, often neither. He is at once bandleader, aerobics instructor, D.J., square-dance caller, auctioneer, enciter, encourager, conscience, freedom advocate and teacher," proclaimed an enthusiastic reviewer of a performance of the promising reggae singer/songwriter/educator. "From bluebeat, ska, to rocksteady...the people they're always ready...feel that one drop, they can't stop because the drum and bass are so heavy," lyrics from the blazing pre-album release single Reggae Music, have masses from Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Georgia, & Alabama eagerly tuned in, sustaining the fire burning through the air waves. The pulsating instrumental West Africa Mississippi fittingly captures the essence of the man, the mission, and his music by incorporating African-Jamaican and Arfican-Cuban influences without ignoring the seventies soul feel from the United States that shaped his early ear and artistic attitude.

Since 1997, audiences from Jackson, MS's Historic Farish St. Fesival; Historic Lynch St. Festival; Jackson State University; Tougaloo College; Holme's Community College; and Hinds Community College; Greenville MS's Historic African-American Cultural Arts Festival; Atlanta GA's Historic West End Annual Juneteenth Celebration; and Memphis TN's Precious Cargo have grown and established an impressive following. Indications from the first two tunes off of the forthcoming album have Daniel Guaqueta, Program Director of Hattisburg, MS's WUSM describing UZOMA's sound as "Mississippi Funk Reggae." This appears appropriate because the people "gotta have that funk!". Funky enough to be the featured Reggae Artist on the Funkiest website on the internet: www.universalfunk.com. The fire it appears can not be stopped, so join in the heat wave as it spreads throughout the continental boarders of the world!!!
