Second Street Pizza --- a call to artists

I recently purchased Second Street Pizza, and I'm trying to give it a bit more of a NL feel. I'm looking for artists who would like to display their art in my store. I would also be interested in anyone doing mosaic work (for the storefront).

Re: Second Street Pizza --- a call to artists

Hey Charlie,
Congratulations on the second street purchase and can't wait to see the changes. Sidewalk seating permit, or atleast benches like rustica would be good. Talk to the people in the Hyder Gallery on 2nd street 637 second street to be exact about art work. If you have any financing questions don't hesitate to e mail, i am a mortgage banker!

Re: Second Street Pizza --- a call to artists

Please don't up the prices too much to fit in with other NL pizza shops. I have been getting the pepperoni stromboli from 2nd St Pizza since I moved here and hope it doesn't change too much either. Good luck in your venture.

Re: Second Street Pizza --- a call to artists

i hope the pizza improves. i have only ordered once or twice because the food was not that great. a better pizza dough and sauce recipe would do the establishment a world of good. good luck to everything in the future!

Wanna make good pizza? Import water from NYC. It's the secret ingredient that makes their pizza much better than anywhere else.

I also agree with the Stromboli person. Any of the Stromboli's were great at 2nd Street Pizza. Please keep them.....but what do I really care, I'm moving.

Good Luck with the pizza joint!

How about naming some menu items after local bands, artists and personalities?

I'd love to sink my teeth into a Matt Reuben...

Re: Second Street Pizza --- a call to artists

I wouldn't be so concerned about your decor just yet....having friends over for the fights and placed a very simple order on 8/25 @ 8:00. An hour and a half later no food. We call and the women said our order was out for delivery. Another 45 minutes go by, and again, NO FOOD. We call back, and the new owner tells me that they don't have the order we placed......hmmmm, but it's out for delivery?????

New owner? Canceled order. One less customer.

Re: Second Street Pizza --- a call to artists

As it turns out second street pizza is very choice, and a bad experience probably has an explanation, so don't go crying over it all over the post board.

Re: Second Street Pizza --- a call to artists

NL Foodie, if you read the thread, you'd see they worried about the decor almost two years ago. That said, sorry your delivery didn't pan out. While I never had a problem with 2nd myself these things happen with pizza delivery.

Marc, it's "very choice" to use the internet to vetch about deliveries gone bad. Obviously the critical mass here, like the Tap and North Bowl, shows that the place isn't going to crumple or lose a back wall on account of the someone vetching on the 'net.

Re: Second Street Pizza --- a call to artists

Check your dates. The original post was from almost 2 years ago. I sold the place 10 days ago.

You had no way of knowing this, but you ordered on the new guy's first Friday of running the place on his own. Fridays can get a little crazy, and a little disorganized. I doubt they were going out of their way to lie to you about the status of your food.

If you call and ask for Jack, I'm sure he'll make it up to you. Happy eating!

Charlie,

Are they going to continue making the calzone the same? That calzone is the best one I've had in Philadelphia...
