anyone know what's going on at Third and Girard? as of noon on friday it appears to be under a foot of water, including cambridge, Becker Building and south Girard
How far does the flooding stretch? I'm close to 6th and Girard.... do I need to run home with buckets or is it relegated to the same areas as the last time it burst?
I'm pasting the email blast from the NLNA mailing list below.
I'm at work and still not clear about how far south the water traveled. Can someone confirm... Did the water go south of Wildey? South of Poplar?

Neighbors,
As many of you may have heard already there has been a water main break at 3rd and Girard. We are still gathering more information but it appears to be a large 30" watermain on Girard and most likely the same that broke in July at Girard and 4th Streets. Both the Water Department and police are on the scene.
Thus far it appears that all of the water is flowing down Bodine Street, and a visual inspection at about 12:30PM indicates that it is not flowing onto Wildey or other side streets. Bodine is flooded, however, from Girard down near American, where Bodine runs along the eastern border of Liberty Lands. Individual homes' water supplies appear to be okay.
If you have any concerns please contact the Water Department at 215-685-6300 or Councilman DiCicco's Office at 215-686-3458.
Water seemed to have flowed down to the area/intersection of Bodine & Wildey, as our trash can (amazingly with the trash still in it) made it almost that far. I don't know if the water went across Wildey towards American or down the cobblestone section of Bodine past the park.
Seems the third section of Liberties Walk got the old building site backfilled just in time, or we'd be visiting Lake Blatstein.
Hope everyone came out of that fairly okay,we were a bit worried about our nieghbors down the street(Lutton).I was glad to see your car started after the swamping...
I have a friend in the water dept.(how do you think the water got shut off so quick this time?),she says the main dates back to 1907.
I've been living here for six years and this has happened four times - twice on Girard at 3rd/4th, once at 4th and George, and once at 3rd and Wildey. Those are the facts. You can decide if they're worrisome.
My Aunts husband works for PWD. Hes an inspector. Anyway, he says the mains in our area are older than dirt and with all the new construction they are just going to crack one by one...they mains cant handle the added supply..
They know about all of the cracks beacuse every main is monitered for flow and water loss. PWD doesnt even repair until the crack becomes major, but by then its usually a street flood.
