Can anyone clarify- in the seated defense of handler-
As the decoy is actually making the aggression to attack, just a few seconds before impact, within 1 meter of handler- is the dog allow to bite? Or does the dog have to actually see impact, even though the motion for aggression has been made by the decoy, and the decoy is right on top of the handler? Our club was having a discussion on this today, and even though we have read the rules-we have different opinions. Thanks Mo, trying to get our boys ready for Ga.
Same as the Defense of Handler from a down. The dog MUST wait for the actual assault (impact). This WILL be tested at trial :-)
If the decoy is in the act of assaulting the handler (swinging the weapon), and the dog launches to defend, it's a judgment call for the Evaluator. The decoy will have something to say as well, as to when the dog actually bit.
If the decoy simply raises the weapon near the handler (gee, think this might happen at trial?) and the dog launches.....back to training.
Thanks Scott, been trying to train that way, then questioned if dog has to be vigilant and anticipate the offense-didn't want to cost the dog points,
well time will tell how our training is doing, and what we have to work on. thanks again Mo
