We are looking into an Ancestry visit to Llanbedr and Llangenny areas, as well as, into the Forest of Dean.
It is my husband's family - Watkins/Skyes in Wales and Bates/Brain in the FOD area.
We have lots of information, ie, birth, marriage, death and census. Also, word of mouth handed down by family. For instance, his 2nd great grandfather was Henry Sykes who was a farmer at "Henbant" - whose daughter, Elizabeth married John Watkins.
Henry's wife, Elizabeth was a "Lewis" who was from Clodock, Herefordshire. His parents - Henry Sykes and Ester (Hester) Gwynn were from Peterchurch.
It would be a trip of a lifetime to be able to stay in and visit 'to' these places. What is the best way for us to go about this? Are there groups/clubs who offer their services to assist visitors traveling from out of the area??
