Creating a DiskPatch (demo) Support Analysis log file

The DiskPatch log file.

- General:
DiskPatch creates a log file every time the program is started. If DiskPatch encounters an existing log file during startup, this file will be renamed and a new file will be created. The previous log files are renamed to "dp.lo?" where ? is 1 through 5, 5 being the oldest log file. All the DiskPatch files are saved to the folder DP_FILES. This folder is located in the directory that DiskPatch is started from, usually the root of the bootdiskette. The log file can be found in the DP_FILES folder, and the most current log file is named DP.LOG.
If you submit a support request and have already performed actions with DiskPatch, you should always include the most recent log file.

- The Support Analysis Log:
When submitting a new support request you must include an analysis log file. This is a clean log file that contains only the analysis info that DiskPatch generates during a disk analysis. DIY DataRecovery support needs this log file to determine how to help you recover your data. You can create one as follows:
- download the latest DiskPatch demo
- create the DiskPatch bootdiskette and start the PC from this diskette
- start DiskPatch (select option 1 from the start menu)
- select the problem disk (menu "select disk")
- start the Analysis Scan (menu "Support", "create support analysis log")
- let the scan finish, you will be notified when the scan has completed
- exit DiskPatch

Include the now created DP.LOG file in your support request. If the file is too large for a forum message, use the link at the top-right of the main forum page to email the log file to DIY DataRecovery support. Be sure to include all relevant information.
