Surface scan (RO) Takes too long

Hi,

I have an 80 Gb HDD and it accidentally got messed up with an MBR writing tool.

I am using Disk Patch to try and see the partitions but the Surface scan (RO) Takes too long, it has now been 24 hours and the progress bar is at the end and not moving for hours now, I thnk it is stuck or something.

I want to send the log file for your perusal.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Jay

Re: Surface scan (RO) Takes too long

i see.. and why exactly are you running a surface scan if you know the problem lies in a corrupted MBR? I'd assume you'd want to repair the MBR, yes?
So, describe the problem in more detail, tell us how it came about and post that logfile.

Regards,
Tom

Re: Surface scan (RO) Takes too long

I am runninurface scan to see which partitions it can discover.

The problem having when I used another disk recovery program (partition recovery) to try and salvage the lost partitions. Inadvertently, I seem to have damaged the MBR or something as after I booted the system all the 4 partitions were gone and the whole disk was like a blank disk with all the space as unallocated.

I am also submitting here with DP_STATE.129 contents

Hello,

Place the contents of the logfile here instead.

Kind regards,

Re: Surface scan (RO) Takes too long

Also, the surface scan does not recover partitions. Please do (make sure you have version 2.1):

- start DiskPatch (select option 1 from the start menu)
- select the problem disk (menu "select disk")
- start the Analysis Scan (menu "Support", "create support analysis log")
- let the scan finish, you will be notified when the scan has completed
- exit DiskPatch

Include the now created DP.LOG file.
