MBR reports Invalid partition table--etc

When re starting PC with "Drive Image 2000" (Powerquest)
and other pgms. which require a restart, message appears
"Boot Sector Write ! Virus. Continue Y/N
On other occasions PC will not boot.

MBRTOOL /DSP /DSK:0 reports
Invalid partition table, error loading operating system, Missing operating system.
I am not confident wihtout advise to re- write MBR which I think would repair the problem.
The problem was first noted in creating an image with Drive Image 2000 some days ago, previously no problem.

Operating system.. Win XP Professional. English.
