SOMETIMES GOD CHOOSES TO USE MUD

Just a Minute gets lots of mail. We are often concerned when people write saying they will only accept healing from the Lord and exclude all other avenues. Our reply has always been that God works through medicine, doctors, nurses, hospitals. He made them all. Everything is within His power. We have no right to pick and choose how we want God to work.

We very much welcomed this small article from Elizabeth Hensley that put our reply in such a vivid way. Thank you Elizabeth.

SOMETIMES GOD CHOOSES TO USE MUD.

While taking a little girl to a church event I watched a strapping 15 year old pick his mother up, give her a big hug and swing her around affectionately. I commented to the mother how charming this was. She said, "You know he is very sick. He has schizophrenia. He almost ended up in the hospital instead of coming to this event. He had gone off his medication, because he wanted to be healed directly by God. If he had done so, he might have been in a bad way by now.

But Pastor Bob talked to him. He told the boy about the incident In the Gospel of John chapter 9, where Jesus made mud and put it in a blind man's eyes to heal him. This shows God can use the things of the Earth to heal, too. Pastor Bob told the boy to think of his medication as his, 'mud.'"

I have always wondered why Jesus did that, instead of just healing the blind man directly. Now I understand, it was a message to all of us, who God chooses to heal through earthly things.

Amen to this wonder message. I have been healed numberous times by the mighty hand of God .. and I have been healed many times by the mighty hand of God through the doctors ~ stop and think about it .. surgery, medicine ~ could man have done all that without God??

I have heard some say that God put that sickness on them to teach them something. As if a parent would put such a thing as sickness on their child to teach them .. we all know we learn better when we are healty. But what gets me is .. if God did put that on them to teach them something .. then why do they run off to the doctor the next day to get the doctor to take it off of them.. if it is God's will they be like that??

Oh yes, God does use MUD ..
God even used a DONKEY

I would like to add my amen to this message also. In my own life, i have been healed by God through medicine and surgical procedures and as a nurse, i have witnessed much healing through medicine also. I have lived with chronic illness for a number of years and have experienced many days of pain, frustration, discouragement and despair but i am thankful that illness has deepened my faith in the Lord and i now seek His will for my life. Through my own suffering i now have more compassion for others who are suffering than i used to and i count my blessings more also.
