The Pond coffehouse will be closing forever at the end of business Friday. Warmest vibe and best coffee in the neighborhood, and we'll miss everyone and their dogs.
I am saddened by the closing of The Pond. I wish them all well and hope to see Nala on a regular basis. Nala can always get a job at the bank as a guard dog! The Pond was a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. I hope we all try to support the small businesses in NL. They are all suffering somewhat and, I would hate to see a trend of closings occur.
Good Wishes to MaryEllen, Liz and Jonathan...don't be strangers!
New landlord, new plans for the space. Being right on 2nd, between Spring Garden (and the Septa stop) and Northern Liberties, The Pond has a very busy breakfast crowd. Hope the new tenants understand what a treasure they're getting.
We can't beleive this! The Pond was truly our favorite spot in the neighborhood, not to mention some of the best coffee in the city. Any plans to reopen elsewhere?
Pond regulars are pointed toward the Standard Tap for Saturday brunch. It's a compromise--we'll only be hanging out together weekly instead of daily; on the other hand, beer.
Sad to see a great place like this come to an end. Good coffee and an asset to the neighborhood. It's hard to understand how a place like the Pond could have this happen in an area such as NL's. The shop will be missed and is a loss to our community. Best of luck!
Sounds like The Pond had a short-term lease with their landlord... A sign on the door says that The Pond is closed "for now"
Hope they are able to re-locate to a spot they own or, at least have a long-term lease on... Maybe the old Tabula Rasa spot? The new spot caddy-corner to Ill Cantucio? 719 N. 2nd (Next to the Palm Tree Market) ???
