HELP NEEDED Fans, Shreveport, Louisiana is establishing a "Walkway of the Stars" and Jim Reeves has been nominated. However, a woman there, Debra Wyat, has raised several objections to his being included. She argues that he was not from Shreveport (but neither was Elvis, who gets a star), and then she says that Jim is already in the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in Carthage -- but so is Terry Bradshaw, who got a star in Shreveport. The Shreveport Chamber also didn't think Jim still had a large following. I'm sure you know that JIM GOT HIS START IN SHREVEPORT as an announcer for KWKH, and scored his breakthrough hit, "Mexican Joe" while working in that city! He had other hits while still based in Shreveport, and he and Mary bought their first home there. We need your help to convince Shreveport that Jim MUST be included. Apparently over 300 others have also been nominated, and it will be easy for Jim to get lost in the crowd. If you are as sick and tired as I am about Jim Reeves repeatedly being slighted and overlooked, PLEASE EMAIL THE SHREVEPORT CHAMBER! Let them know that Jim has an international following. Shreveport, Louisiana is establishing a "Walkway of the Stars" and Jim Reeves has been nominated. However, a woman there, Debra Wyat, has raised several objections to his being included.
