Million Dollar Baby

We saw _Million Dollar Baby_ on Sunday. We liked it, but some of the plot holes bugged me:
- Trying not to give anything away here: One of the fight decisions was just way dopey.
- A couple of the injuries and care facility scenes required a lot of suspended belief, I think.

Clint got his shots in against welfare scammers in a way that any Conservative would love (slash and burn--the whole system should just be gone).

I can see why some groups are upset with the movie, but I agree with Ebert who said that the characters acted and reacted as the story portrayed them--they and their actions were authentic to their characters.

Hillary Swank was very good. Clint and Morgan's acting and relationship in the movie a little cliched, but over all, we liked it.

We're hoping to see _Vera Drake_ on Friday...

Re: Million Dollar Baby

I haven't seen it yet, so I can't help with the plot holes. I can, however, amuse you by confessing that I mentally plugged in Clint Howard rather than Eastwood where you mentioned "Clint." It wasn't until I re-read your post a couple of times that I made the right connection.

Hey, it's sorta late and I just got home from a 2-week trip to Dallas. Can I be forgiven?

Re: Re: Million Dollar Baby

How was Dallas? Was it for work or a vacation? I hope that it was fun...

You are forgiven for seeing Clint Howard in everything.

Re: Re: Re: Million Dollar Baby

Dallas was OK, but it was just work, work, work, work, work. I'm just now getting back into the swing of things at home.

Thank goodness that there are always so many helpful Clint Howards around to help me get matters in proper order.
