Found Dog

Yesterday a Black entire male Greyhound was found about 1/2 mile from the Kennels. He is tat in both ears and is in good condition, hound collar but not chipped. Great guy indeed. He was wandering in a flock of in lamb sheep and the farmers man rang us and we picked him up before farmer got his gun. He had no interest in the sheep at all. Just wonder if anyone knows of a lost dog

Re: Found Dog

Any updates on this lost dog. Fingers & toes crossed that he has been happily reunited with his owners

Re: Found Dog

No not a squeak. We have heard he may have come from Cardenden and its more than likely he has been dumped.

Re: Found Dog

i find it so sad that people can do this to these wonderful animals - at least he is in safe hands now

Re: Found Dog

Hi Sylvia,

If dog is earmarked then Paul at Thornton dog track (if the dog has run there) will know who owns or ran the dog there. He marks and records all dogs earmarkings at the track before they are allowed to run there. If not at Thornton there is always Armadale, Ayr or Corbiewood. Hope this might be of some help.

Re: Found Dog

He has not raced officially in this country at all. I hope we can find him a home soon becasue he is adorable.

Re: Found Dog

Hi...i'd appreciate any help or advice here. at my wits ends over the distress of the greyhound next door to me. This beautiful dog has been left in a shed with a small make-shift run (which actually isn't large enough for her to walk in, never mind run) the shed has no weather-proofing on the roof, she sleeps in a dog-igloo in there. What distresses me most is that she is never let out of this enclosure, at all. I called the SSPCA several times, as previous to this dog, they kept a whippet in there which just disappeared. Their response hasn't been very helpful actually. What can i do? She cries constantly and it's heart-breaking :(

Re: Found Dog

I don't really have much advice for you all i could suggest is to keep calling the sspca insisting that they check it out - i had cause to call them in the past and unfortunately had the same type of response that they werent that helpful not sure what that is all about. Im sure someone on the forum here will have some good advice for you tho and its wonderful to hear that there are people out there looking out for animal's welfare...i hope the situation gets resolved soon x

Re: Found Dog

Found this posting by accident it should really have been a new posting as the original heading is not relevant. That aside if no joy with SPCA the only other options are to contact the Police and have them check it out. Don't let them fob you off with advice about calling the SPCA. You could always contact the dog warden as the dog is technically causing a noise nuisance with always whining/barking etc they are usually pretty good with regard to welfare issues as well.

Re: Found Dog

It's so sad to hear yet another story of a dog being neglected & not having a cosy loving home as they all deserve. Why are the SSPCA not acting on your information? If it was me in your situation I would be phoning SSPCA, Dog warden & police constantly until I was on first name terms with them. Becoming a total pain that they'd have no option but to do something for this poor dog. Could you not rope in other nieghbours to phone as well?
Got everything crossed that this story has a happy outcome

Re: Found Dog

Audz, what area are you in. If the dog is being fed and watered the SSPCA can do very little about it and the Police wont have an interest unless the dog is dangerous etc. I can maybe have a word with the relevant SSPCA officer and see what has been done/suggested to the owner etc.

Re: Found Dog

It's in Levenmouth, Fife. Called SPCA every day, and from the reply i received earlier today, they dont seem overly concerned because, and i quote "although it's been frosty and below-zero temperature throughout the night..at least it wasn't windy so the dog didnt catch a draft in there" :o
yes, all by itself, while their other 2 dogs are indoors.
The dog is not being fed or watered appropriately and it's very under-nourished. Yesterday I gave owner a quilt to put inside her kennel, when i went to door at 12pm today, X said she "didn't have the time to go out to the kennel yesterday" so it's not been fed either.
These people are incapable of looking after this animal at all, they are not socialising this dog with their other 2 and grossly neglecting it..yes it may not be illegal to keep it imprisoned in that enclosure, but to leave her there on her own is grossly immoral

Re: Found Dog

Hi Audz, thanks for making this post. It would probably be helpful if you could start a new post about this poor dog(like Helen and Dave I came across it by reading about the other dog). I would think you will more advice and support this way. It breaks my heart to think of her outdoors on a night like this as it is freezing out there. She's out there cold, hungry and thirsty. So sad.
