First Greyhound

Just a quick message to say thank you to Celia & jimmy for letting us adopt our beautiful Gemma today.
She has been for her first walk and after a couple of hours roaming her new home she if now finally of for a sleep. Hopefully we can provide this gorgeous dog with all the love and care she deserves.

Thanks Again

Re: First Greyhound

Hi I hope you have many happy years with Gemma. We have 2 hounds and they definitely grow on you. They're the most marvellous dogs!

Re: First Greyhound

Hi Alistair

Good luck with Gemma. We have had Ace 5 months now and he is gorgeous.

Be warned though, they end up taking over the place and if its anything like us, we have ended up re-arranging the house to suit him. We dont mind though LOL

Re: First Greyhound

Alastair,
Congratulations on giving Gemma her forever home. You will find very shortly how rewarding they are to have around. They are very low maintenance dogs all they are needing is lots of love, a comfortable and warm kennel (your house) and feeding. They will sleep a lot as they are lazy dogs. They will need socialised with other breeds of dogs as most only know Greyhounds. But do be careful till you get to Know Gemma and she gets to know you.
You will find when out walking Gemma, that other dog owners will comment on how lovely she is and that they think it would be nice seeing her run. Don't be tempted by their comments. Hounds will catch you out if you let your guard down. You will see her body language change when she sees something, Keep your eye on her and you will learn a lot about her.
We have had Billy over a year and a half and Lassie over a year and it is the best thing we have ever done.
I hope it all works out and it becomes the best thing you have done also.
I have answered your other post about feeding.
George, Morag, Billy & Lassie

Re: First Greyhound

Hi, congratulations on your first grey - you will love it. Ive had one for 7 years (Tara) then found out about Celia & Jimmy and adopted Jake in April last year - went over for a quick visit to see the new kennels (nd couldnt leave empty handed of course) and now have Noah.

They are a great addition to the family, and must add you will lose chair space - you end up sitting on the floor also bed space - but its all worth it in the end - they are the most loving dogs ive ever come across

Re: First Greyhound

Congrats on your first grey. They really are a very special breed of dog. The hello nuzzle is something else especially if the nose is moving upwards into the groin at a rate of knots at the time.

How did you manage to come away with only one dog? Celia must be slipping LOL.

Ours are skittish hooligans, accomplished bin raiders, ultra sneaky farters and have the most loving nature once thay have decided to trust you.

Enjoy sharing your life with a dog which will really enjoy sharing its life with you.

Re: First Greyhound

Hi Alastair,
Well done it is a choice you will never regret greys are the best most loving and funny dogs we have ever come across. Since having Yogi our eyes have been well and truly opened we cant imagine life without him.
He is so loving and relaxed (but has his moments of madness which are a wonder to behlold). You will never have a better friend they take a wee while to trust and get to know you but once they do thats you captured for life lol.

hope you have a great life together
Dougie, Laura and Yogi
