Zoe has many bald patches...

and has a couple which I am most concerened about at the top of the left leg. One of them has been scabbing and then a little up from that there is another one, and they are very red.

She has others where she itches and a few around her body, although there was only one we noticed shortly after we got her.

She's recently been to the vet and had "Frontline for dogs" sprayed on her to stop her itching, and she does itch a lot less now, though she seems to have more patches now.

Has anyone else experienced red bald patches with their greyhound(s)? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Re: Zoe has many bald patches...

We got our boy last July and in the autumn he shed loads of kennel coat. He went very bald round his bum, but didnt have any redness. He also had a really scurfy skin. But it is gradually growing back now.

But if there are red and sore patches I would take her back to see the vet.

Re: Zoe has many bald patches...

We noticed advice on this Forum that a teaspoonful of honey in their food every day helps their coats to grow in. We used this for our dog and it really worked. It could help Zoe when you are sure that their aren't any more fundamental problems going on with her skin.

Re: Zoe has many bald patches...

Thank you for your advice. Much appreciated. We were at Baltree Kennels yesterday and used the paddock area so that Zoe could have a run. She left the kennels to live with us on the 1st of March and knew right away where she was, amazing! It was lovely to see the enjoyment on her face when she was running. Celia very kindly had a look at her leg and her bald patches and put out minds at rest.
