Medieval thinking relates to black animals i.e. cats that were regarded as animals having special powers derived from the devil(in the Middle Ages)
Hence even nowadays some black animals are unwelcome by some superstitious people. It is commonly know that lots of black greyhounds stay in rescue kennels longer than others (with a different colour of coat) as some people due to unknown reasons are scared of the black colour. It is sad indeed as I find black animals very beautiful and attractive.
PS. It concerns the beautiful Betty!
