Pannus Eye Disease

WARNING EYE DISEASE CALLED PANNUS

Lassie was having her right eye checked today as well previously thought it was a start of a cataract but yesterday vet was concerned that it may be glaucoma. The results are that she has Pannus see attached .PDF file.

Cataract, Glaucoma and Pannus all look the same to the untrained eye!!!
It could be a Auto Immune condition as Lassie has one already with her nails but it is inconclusive.

Not sure of the cause but if untreated causes blindness, We now have prednisolone steroid eye drops applied twice a day to try and retard the symptoms as there is no cure. There is a strong chance of the other eye being effected at some point. If treatment works probably be on this for rest of her life. Will need to wait and see how she responds to the medication.

As Pannus is incurable is could be well worth keeping a wee check on you Hounds eyes now and again. They would thank you for that!!!
