This post is in recognition of Bert's never ending dedication to promoting GRF and Greyhounds.
Driving down a busy dual carriageway today I spotted a car sat on an off ramp with a flat tyre, boot open and hazard lights on. As I drove by I thought to myself 'that looks like Bert' and a second look in the mirror confirmed it was indeed Bert.
By the time I got back to help him there was a white Transit van sitting in front of Berts car. Turns out it was an unmarked Police van that the two plain clothes officers (a male and a female officer) had stopped when they saw Bert stranded at the roadside. They moved their van to shield the car while we changed the wheel. Anyway, between us we got the wheel swapped over. The female officer was already a greyhound convert and has one of her own but, never one to miss an opportunity, Bert gave a GRF card to the male officer who had mentioned his Dad might be looking for another dog!
Bert - I hope you managed to get that tyre repaired OK!
