Pictures from todays walk at St Andrews

It sure was a cold one today with the icy winds blowing off the golf course. As you can see from the loooooooooooong shadows, the sun was very low too so apologies for the quality of some of these...

Re: Pictures from todays walk at St Andrews

Great pics as usual Steve.

It certainly was a cold one.

Re: Pictures from todays walk at St Andrews

Lovely pictures, Steve, typical St Andrews winter sunshine and at least we managed most of the walk before the weather closed in. I personally think the Citizen photographer would have been better to get on the beach for photos too (then we might have got back before the rain!). We'll see how his turn out.
I was really disappointed by the lack of students, sorry folks. I put posters in the Union, the Union Shop, the library, and some of the colleges and residences but nobody showed. In retrospect, I should probably just have stood outside Tesco or Morrison's with a couple of greyhounds and actively canvassed. Hopefully some more students may volunteer to help at Baltree if they pick up on the posters.
At least we shall have press coverage so thank you to every (man/woman/dog)who turned out for GRF and braved the cold. Thanks also for the warming mulled cranberry, Michele and Nic (you clearly read the weather well). Charlie sends Tara kisses and says he is confident she will fall under his spell eventually (Bryn and Foxy also had to be won over).
Happy Christmas to all.

Re: Pictures from todays walk at St Andrews

I feel quite confident in saying there must have been dozens of students in their red capes walking along to meet us, but that one by one their capes were blown away in that bitterly cold wind (in a Super Man style), and that's why they all turned back and didn't meet us......

Re: Pictures from todays walk at St Andrews

Steve, you lie like a cheap clock, for which I love you dearly
It occurs to me that students don't buy gowns these days. We used to have to wear ours for dinner in the student residences, so everyone had one, and the Sunday morning pier walk was an established tradition that featured in postcards of St Andrews. Those were the days - I suddenly realise how old I'm getting!

Re: Pictures from todays walk at St Andrews

Aww guys!! I am so sorry that Bambi and I missed this!!! I hadn't been on the forum and didn't imagine the walk would be back at St Andrews so soon!!! I am totally sick that we missed it!!! :( Hope you all had a fab day!! xx

I don't think I've ever been described as a cheap clock before

When I graduated nobody had their own gown - we all just hired them on the day. And I'm just 21! There goes that clock again.....

Re: Pictures from todays walk at St Andrews

Aha! But graduation gowns were completely different, and black, and we also hired those for the day. The scarlet gowns were for daily wear and signified an order of seniority, whereby first years wore them up to the neck, second years on the shoulder, third years off one shoulder and fourth years off both shoulders - ridiculous really!
At 21, you must have been a child prodigy (tick, tick)

Re: Pictures from todays walk at St Andrews

Sure was cold folks but thanks goes to all who turned out. I haven't seen so much blue colour for ages - not even at a Blue Brazil ( Cowdenbeath ) football match.
We had so many Christmas donations at the walk we are just going to say thank you to all who donated time, work and funds throughout the year for our homeless dogs. Bless you one and all.
Useless information - I graduated centuries ago ( it seems ) and would you believe my specialist subject was rubbish tips. Anyone beat that ?
So if anyone says that I talk a lot of rubbish I take that as a compliment.
Walks over for 2014. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year when it comes. We'll see you all in March 2015.
