Gip

We had to have our beloved boy put to sleep yesterday as a result of liver cancer. Over the last couple of months he had lost his enthusiasm for his walks and even car trips but did not appear to be in any pain and we had thought that old age was catching up on him as he was nearly 12.
After his half yearly health check his red blood cells were low and the vet recommended an abdominal scan which unfortunately showed that he had almost no functioning liver left due to a large tumour and they recommended he be put to sleep as he would very quickly go even more downhill.
Mary and i went through with our other grey,Heidi, and said our goodbyes.
Hopefully he is now running again with his pal Rosie who passed last May.

Re: Gip

So sorry to hear your very sad news. You gave him a wonderful life and you know in your hearts that you have done the right thing. Thinking of you. Run free dear Gip

Re: Gip

So sorry for your loss. My goodness, the toll for our beloved pets has been hard this year. Gip has now joined the others at the Rainbow Bridge, be in peace now beloved boy.

Re: Gip

We are so sorry to hear about Gip. You have done the right thing for him and he will be thanking you for doing that. He will now be running pain free with all his friends over the Rainbow Bridge, including our big boy Leo, who also died from cancer. Our thoughts are with you at this very sad time. What a year this has been for our beloved Greyhounds. So many have had to go over the Rainbow Bridge.

Re: Gip

Hi Norman and Mary. We're so very, very sorry to hear about big Gip's passing.
He was a lovely boy and we remember him and Rosie as two gorgeous brindles. It is terrible to have lost them both. However they both enjoyed the best possible fun life thanks to you both. We thank you so much for that.
They will now be together again over the Bridge.
R.I.P. big beautiful Gip. Run free with Rosie.
Auntie Celia and Uncle Jimmy.

Re: Gip

I can only say that Gip will be in very good company on the far side and that I am so sorry for you, as this was not the gradual ageing process you assumed. Liver cancer can be aggressive but the liver is so resilient that it seems to cope until the point of no return. Your care saved him from going beyond that point so please take comfort in that.

Re: Gip

So sorry to hear about Gip but you made the ultimate sacrifice letting him go so he did not suffer. Having lost John to cancer recently I know how hard it is but he went knowing he was loved.

Take care, thinking of you both.

Re: Gip

Thank you all for your good wishes. Celia and Jimmy did a wonderful thing for Mary and I all these years ago when they suggested 2 dogs instead of 1 and these 2 were Gip and Rosie. They have enriched our lives and we were so pleased that they learned that life could be more comfortable and they had nothing to fear with us.l Like you all we probably think we had the best dogs out there but our new girl Heidi has won her way into our hearts and hopefully we can find a pal for her in the near future.
