Sandy, our gorgeous big boy, has gone over the Rainbow Bridge today. This has been very very sudden and we are both devastated to lose him.

Over the last few days, Sandy has been limping and at times very unsteady. He was unable to walk yesterday evening and refused his food. He was seen at the Vets today and was x-rayed to check his spine. It looked fine but he was found to have what was thought a Hernia, this we believed was strangling his bowel.

The Vets took him in for an emergency operation to fix this but unfortunately found a Hemangiosarcoma. This was the cause of the strangulation to his bowel and the loss of the blood supply to his legs. This was an inoperable tumour.

As you know, Sandy came to live with us on the 21 October 2011. It seemed Lady Gaga and him chose each other and since then have been the best of friends. He was a beautiful, loving boy who always wanted attention (especially from his Dad). He has been a big part of our family and we will miss him terribly.

It is devastating when we have to let them go, but he will always look down on you all with love in his heart for the wonderful life you gave him. Run free big lad, Ace is just the other side of the bridge along with lots of other friends to show you the way.

That's so sad to hear, and so totally unexpected. I remember when you took Sandy - he was a lucky lad to have had you looking out for him from the day you first did a home check to the day he passed.

We are so terribly sorry to hear your sad news. The four of you were so well known at various Shows, and at Pets at Home, promoting GRF ... it's hard to imagine Lady Gaga WITHOUT Sandy

I guess that, for Sandy, the end was quick ... this, of course, makes it even more devastating for you. As with humans, if we are 'prepared', we get the chance to say our goodbyes ... with a sudden death, it leaves us numb. For Sandy, this was the kindest outcome.

You will all miss Sandy dreadfully, we know Our thoughts are with you ~ run free, over the Bridge, sweet Sandy ~ you will be very sadly missed, but we know that you will live on in the hearts of your Mum & Dad forever.

We were so sorry to hear about dear, big Sandy dying. We remember when you got him. He was a lovely dog and a brilliant pet.
His fortune was that he simply could not have had a better home. Everybody could see how happy he was. Everybody could see how happy you were with him.
If doggies could talk he would have told you all these things. We can talk for him so we thank you. Thanks for giving him a beautiful home and a fantastic life.
It was a shame that it happened on your holidays which should be the happiest time of the year. Don't think of the bad day think of nearly 2000 wonderful days that you had together.

Bert and Irene, I'm so sad for you. Thank you for sharing the medical detail although I know from recent personal experience it is a painful thing to do. It may help someone else to deal with a similar problem so it is important.
Messages already posted reflect our respect for you and all you have done for GRF. Lady Gaga will likely guide you to a new hound-friend when the time is right.

So so sorry to hear the tragic news of your big boy Sandy.......what a shock it must have been, and our thoughts. Are with you both...... We ourselves lost our big lad Duke who we had for 8 years last month, and we will never forget him. A visit to GRF and taking home Cody. ( Gary ) as a new brother for Ruby has helped us all in dealing with the loss of Duke. ..... Run free over the bridge Sandy and give our love to all the other hounds we have lost this year ......xxx

We are so sorry to hear about Sandy, it's heartbreaking losing one of theses lovely hounds as they show you so much love and trust for giving them they're forever home! Handsome Bhan will be there with lots of others to show him the way, Lady Gaga will be missing him give her a big hug from us as she'll need lots of these as Missy is still pining and we cant get her to eat very much, think we will need to take a trip to the vet. Our thoughts are with you all at this very sad time.
