This Sundays Walk - Tentsmuir Forest

This Sundays walk (7th August) is at Tentsmuir Forest. I've not been to this walk before and Roy Elder will be leading it for us. From last years Tentsmuir walk I found these directions - Drive to Tayport and look for the sign in Tayport pointing towards Scotscraig Golf Course. At this point drive down Elizabeth Street, turning right at the bottom into Shanwell Road. Take the first left into the East Common car park where the walk will start at 11am.

All dogs must remain on fixed leads at all times, and the two leggers need to pick any thing their four leggers drop on the way. Please watch out for other dogs that may well be off their leads on the walk, and please watch out for traffic moving about the car park.

Just a word of caution .... Tentsmuir is renowned for tics, so PLEASE check your dogs after this walk.

Susan.

Re: This Sundays Walk - Tentsmuir Forest

Thanks for the warning. If you spot them quickly enough before they've attached themselves to your dog you can just flick them off and squash them (they look a bit like a tiny spider). If they have attached themselves and started feeding they are easily removed by using a tick removal tool. You just slide it under the ticks body and twirl it clockwise - it safely removes the entire tick from the dog. Once it's out kill it by squashing it otherwise it'll jump back on.

Some better directions courtesy of Roy Elder who will be leading this walk;

Tayport sits on the B943 road, from either A92 (via Wormit and Newport), via the Tay bridge access road (last roundabout on A92 before the Tay bridge or first after bridge if coming from Dundee) or from St Michaels.

When entering Tayport from Tay bridge direction:
1: Enter tayport and continue over 1st Mini roundabout
2: Follow main road all the way round until you come to 2nd Mini roundabout (next to Tayport primary school)
3: Take the right exit and carry straight on past church on left hand side until next junction on left (Maitland street)
4: Take left turn down Maitland street and carry on to another mini roundabout.
5: Take right hand exit on to Nelson Street and follow this road (passing the Co-op on the left)
6: Continue down this road (Nelson Street becomes Shanwell road) until you come to a left hand turn into Links road North. There’s a small shop called Links stores on the corner. And a ‘P’ for parking sign.
7: Take the left turn in to the open common and the car parking is on the right.

Directions from St Michaels the same however you’ll have to continue through the town until Maitland street, which will be on the right).

Post code for the car park is DD6 9EB
