Show update 25/4/17

As we gear up for our anniversary dog show I thought it would be a good time to just highlight some of the “do’s and don’ts” of the show, particularly for anyone who may be attending for the first time.

It is a working farm facilities we have use off so please be cautious when driving on to the site and park where our attendants and signs ask you to.
You can pay at the door on the day but it will cost you £5 so if want to save a few pounds to spend at the show !! then it is best to buy in advance from our kennels.

Speaking of pounds as most of you will be aware the UK is rolling out new style pound coins with the aim I believe in having all the old ones out of circulation by October where you can’t then spend them (although can change at banks I believe). So what better way to get these spent and away by bringing them along to our show :0) !!! Were surprise, surprise a lot of things happen to cost £1 !! (tombola, raffle and class entry per dog !) Thus it is a win, win for everyone (that almost rhymed !!).

On entry to the show you will get a wristband to wear which allows you to come and go. Please wear at all times while at the show as this obviously lets our front desk know who has and hasn’t paid. At the front desk you can also purchase one of our wonderful show programmes which gives you details of classes, sponsorships, show articles etc (£1)

While you can bring your own lunch/picnic to the show, you don’t need to worry if you don’t as we will have food stalls there with filled rolls, coffees/teas, soup, crisps etc as well as an array of home baking.

The show itself consists of 7 classes starting as always with our best Junior class, we will give prizes and rosettes to the first 6 in all of these classes! More than any other dog show, with the winners of each class receiving a trophy and going through to our grand final. Where this year as we will have at least 7 dogs in the final we have decided to give awards/trophies to only the first 3, as all winners will have already won a star prize for winning their respective classes and it would be a shame to award 6 prizes and miss one dog out. It should also make for a better climax to the show with the winner being announced from around 5 still there (I hope that all makes sense !!).

At the event we have the use of the neighbouring fields to walk your dogs which is usually a good idea to do before coming into the show particularly if you have travelled a distance and may need to go!! Of course all dog poo must be picked up and can be placed in the many bags we will have dotted around the site. Please also note all dogs must be kept on the lead, this is not just to do with livestock on the farm but is also a GRF policy for all greyhounds, ensuring your dog is under control at all times.

One of the things we do insist on however, is DO have a great time !!

Finally we still have one sponsorship opportunity left to sell, that of hall hire (£100) this comes with certificate, 4 x show tickets and your details included in our show programme and web page. It is our 10th show so it would be great if we could sell out all of this year’s packages.

As have mentioned on numerous occasions all money raised from sponsorships and the show go directly to GRF for the upkeep of the current crop of greyhounds awaiting their forever home,
