Gabby

Three years ago we had a three year old dog called Gaga . She contracted bone cancer in her front leg. The vet recommended amputation since she was so young but the prognosis was that she might only have two or three months to live. We agreed to the amputation. Two very special people, Shorna and Dougie Greenshield asked to foster her for her last few months and renamed her Gabby. Amazingly Gabby could be seen on video running around playing with a ball. She was so happy with Shorna and Dougie. Time passed, one year, two years, approaching three years and no sign of the cancer, our hopes were high that no cancer existed. However just before Christmas it became obvious that the cancer had returned. Sadly, now with Gabby very ill, Shorna and Dougie had to make the terrible decision to put their dear little three legged Gabby to sleep early this year. We have never in our life seen such a vibrant little three legged dog. All of us at GRF thank Shorna and Dougie so very much for taking her into their home and giving her such a happy life. You are two stars. Run free over the Bridge wee Gabby. You are now pain free. After all this time we almost forgot she was fostered, not adopted, but Shorna and Dougie would like to officially call her rehomed. She most certainly was that.

Re: Gabby

God bless both of them for the wonderful few years that they gave Gabby. They are a pair of angels.

Re: Gabby

A life well lived. Run free wee dog - you were an inspiration to us all

Re: Gabby

We are so very sorry to read about Gabby - we remember her from the Dog Show, and how sprightly she was and how very much you loved her.

Yes, you had more time with her than you anticipated but it is never enough is it?

Bless you for taking Gabby into your home and for showing her so much love and care - she will live on in your hearts and memories always.

Susan, Mo & Bootsie.

Re: Gabby

Who needs 4 legs when you have 3 good ones and a huge heart, and you're treasured by a loving family. Gabby was a very lucky girl to end her life with Dougie and Shorna.
Life is a mix of good things and bad things. The bad things hurt but they make you appreciate the good things even more.

Re: Gabby

I was amazed when Shorna and Dougie took the very poorly Gabby into their home. Such big hearts I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who expected Gabby to only be with us for a few short months but next thing we know she was thriving, loving home life and her family. It’s truly a credit to you both what you did for her.
