GRF Walk - Sunday 15th August - Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline

With the announcement today of lifting Covid restrictions, I'm pleased to announce that the first of the 2021 GRF walks will take place at Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline at 11:00 on Sunday 15th August. This is obviously on the assumption that the Scottish Government do not put any further restrictions in place prior to the day.

We will gather along the wall by the coach park section of the car park - this will give us plenty of space to maintain a sensible distance from each other, and avoid crowding the main entrance to the park.

All dogs must remain on fixed leads at all times, and the two leggers need to pick any thing their four leggers drop on the way. Please watch out for other dogs that may well be off their leads on the walk, and please watch out for traffic moving about the car park.

Please try to remember that not all of the dogs or their two leggers are as quick on their feet as they once were, so please do not go charging off into the distance, and please allow for regrouping at strategic places so that we can all enjoy the walk together (allowing for social distancing).

Septembers walk will be held on Sunday 19th as part of the Great Global Greyhound Walk. Greyhound Rescue Fife will then resume holding monthly walks on the second Sunday of the month starting at 11:00. These walks are an excellent opportunity for dogs and their owners to socialise, and to raise awareness for the rescue.

Return of the raffle - prizes needed!

I’m pleased to announce that we have a volunteer who is going to resurrect the raffle at the Dunfermline walk. If there’s enough interest hopefully this will return as a regular feature on the monthly walks.

This is a great fundraiser for the kennels so please support it by buying tickets and, if possible, by donating prizes.

An absolutely incredible turnout for the first GRF Walk since Covid restrictions were lifted. So good to see lots of old friends along with lots of new faces and dogs. In total I think there were just over 70 dogs today, mostly Greyhounds with a couple of honorary Greyhounds joining us.

A big Thank You to Jemma and her daughters Emily and Ciarra for reviving the raffle. Between their efforts and your generosity we raised £262 in ticket sales and £80 in additional donations.

Had a wonderful day. Dogs loved it. We have all slept since we got home.
Well done to Jemma, Emily and Ciarra for raising such a great sum. Looking forward to the next one.
