A .gif slideshow is not ideal. You can't control the pace or which picture you're looking at, and if you want a longer look at a picture, you have to wait for it to come back around.
Plus a .gif is going be lower quality from having to be compressed down to 256 colors, if the pictures are in color rather than (already 256-color) black-and-white. The quality will get especially bad if some of the pictures are radically different colors from the rest.
Still, thanks as ever! Been browsing some of the more recent updates. 😎 Hope you and yours are doing well!
Thanks for the response. I got two also via email that echo your opinion. I am glad that the site is still being looked at and appreciate the comments and suggestions.
The idea is good but there are hundreds of details to consider, first, when creating gifs it takes time for each movie or series that exists and that is a lot of work. Second, that not everyone will like the idea of not being able to control which image to see and being forced to repeat the gif and that is tedious and third, the quality of a gif drops a lot compared to how photos are uploaded on the site. I hope my answer is helpful.
Thank you for the comment, and yes it's was very helpful. I guess I was thinking I needed to add "something" to the site to make it more "interesting". Actually I'm glad to hear that what I have been doing is good enough.
Now that I think about it, loincloths are simple ... and so should the site be also.
Thanks to the comments received regarding changes I have decided to stay with the simple format which has been working out for the most part the past 20+ years.
The "test" page has been removed.
