Karsten, there is this tv movie that came out in 1984 called "The Mystic Warrior". The film is on Youtube.

So I see! I'm finding a low-quality VHS rip in 3 parts (~1 hour, ~1 hour, ~35 minutes ... with mono sound pegged all the way to the left), a better-quality version in one part (at the wrong aspect ratio), and a few trailers and clips.

Looks like it was originally a 5-hour miniseries, but a shorter TV movie version was made, too. Starring Robert Beltran (who later played Chakotay on Star Trek: Voyager) and Apollonia Kotero (from Prince's music circle), among a bunch of others. IMDB page

Being made-for-TV, did it ever get a real home video release? IMDB isn't entirely clear from what I can find there...

Nice find! I recall viewing parts of this on TV decades ago and thought I'd never get to see it again.

Would be nice if the TV series Born to the Wind would turn up.

There is also a 3 hours 55 minutes version on Youtube called "Best Native American Western_Rare_Full Version_Fullscreen" on wakan windom's channel.

Yah, that's the "wrong aspect ratio" one I mentioned. Original was 4:3, but the uploader has it stretched to widescreen. (bleh)

Thanks for letting me know of this film - I had not heard of it before. Hopefully it will someday get a decent DVD release.

(A heads up for anyone thinking of purchasing the recent DVD release of "At Play in the Field of the Lord" the picture quality is not very good.)

I've been wanting to find this film. I guess it was originally a nine hour mini-series to be aired in 1980 but was instead shown on ABC television as a five-hour mini-series in 1984 under the title of "The Mystic Warrior".

It appears to have had a DVD release in Germany.
