The Burūba (1955) film’s fascinating loincloth escapades
I have seen a rather goofy excerpt of the so bad it’s entertaining Burūba (1955) film on YouTube. That excerpt just makes me chuckle with all of its narm charm. In that famous excerpt alone, the titular hero, who wears a modest dark coloured loincloth, saves his childhood friend Reiko Watanabe from a well meant mountain gorilla, who didn’t intend to kidnap her. **** funny! https://youtu.be/mufnIc_pIe8?si=eI6B9TcXVQWRNFFx
The Schlockbuster film, spun off from Yoshimasa Ikeda’s Barūba no Bōken books (1948-92), does have a couple of releases on home video, with the first two being on laserdisc and on VHS, even though the more recent dvd releases are more easily available on Amazon Japan and Yahoo Auctions Japan.

You’re welcome. The Burūba film is also called Brooba or Buruuba (ブルーバ). It’s based on the Baruuba no Bouken (バルーバの冒険) book series (1948-92) of Yoichiro Minami (南 洋一郎), aka Yoshimasa Ikeda.
