My own worst critic..........

The face lift of the web site is well underway. I realize we all have different computers (Part of the reason for the hit counters. I can tell what browsers and monitor resolutions, etc...). Not everyone will see the new fonts on the pages. If your computer does not have the font(s) I am using, the page will show whatever font you have set as default...usually the always ugly New-Times Roman

As I learn more about writing web pages, I get a little better at doing it. It is my desire to make the web site both pleasing to the eye, and easy to read. Please let me know if I am accomplishing this goal. When I view these pages, it is difficult to judge what others are seeing. So, don't hesitate to tell me if you are having a difficult time reading them. You're not going to hurt my feelings any. What is pleasing to me and easy for me to read, may be quite different for you. I am near-sighted, and I don't need reading glasses.

Recently, I have added a couple of new things to the web site. One is the "Human Click". When I am on line, and working on the web site, you are able to hold a live conversation with me. I can hold several conversations at one time, though each is private. It is usefull if one does not know his or her way around the site. Or, it can be used to ask questions or even just talk. I know it works. Betty Lou Derry and I tried it out... Works great! The other thing added was the Derry Family E-Cards. I found it to be a bit confusing at first, but once you use it a couple of times, it's a lot easier. The E-Cards can be used to contact family members of new information, or used for new contacts instead of e-mail. (I'm working on the photo's in the E-Card gallery).

There is much yet to fill in on the Derry Index page. Some pages have very little due in part because the information either does not exisit, or I have lost it in recent times because of copmputer failure.
If you see a page that you have information pertaining to that individual, by all means, let me know and I will add it.

Recent discoveries of Old Moll's will and Baltser's will have been a great addition to the web site. Which brings up a question that I have. One of the witnesses of Old Moll's will was Jacob Derry....OK, now which one was it? Baltser's son Jacob her husband? Jacob her son (my g-g-grandfather)? Jacob her grandson?

I really d this stuff.

Talk to you soon,
Doc

Hi, Doc...Vanity, thy name is Woman! I love it when you speaketh my name! ) ... I've decided to hit the court house and search for more information on Charles and John when I visit Atlantic, the hometown..there has to be more information than what I came up with last time. There is a large county park near my house for reunions, etc.! Thanks, again, Doc, for your "addicted to the Derrys" personality!!!

Re: Re: My own worst critic..........

Hi Betty,
I love your sense of humor..

I've been searching for the e-mail you sent with the names... naturally,I can't find it. The John W. and Charles...brothers? Or father and son? There seems to be a few John W's... One from the Pa branch, and at least three from the Loudoun Couny, VA branch... Still looking for more of them.
I wish you Good Hunting in Atlantic (City?), and Gods' Speed and safe journey!

I AM SO..."addicted to the Derry's"...that's for sure!

Large park you say.....hmmmmm........

If I can help you from here, in your quest back east, Feel free to call me toll free at: 1-888-280-4374 Anytime!

Hi, Doc! I copied your Forum Smiley Icons and so will try one out to see if it works: !! Atlantic, Iowa, is the county seat of Cass County, population 6,000 when I left, not much bigger today, but a decent place to visit during the summer! The e-mail with all the names really included mostly Cranston (Moi!) names with only my son's name from the Derry side...none ride motorcycles! L I mentioned at my filet mignon lunch today with daughter, Dana, about a possible Derry reunion next summer...she loves to "toss" parties...we need to do some serious pondering on this one, Doc!!! There are other places to visit, too, besides the county park for hot dogs and potato salad...Disneyland, Knotts' Berry Farm, Universal City, Long Beach Aquarium, and Hollywood and Vine...I've got room for two...first come, first served! (Here's another one: and another: ..) L

Re: Re: Re: My own worst critic..........

Doc...I forgot to answer your questions...dumb, dumb, dumb! John W. Derry is the father of Charles, from Virginia to Vermont, Illinois and thence to Iowa..John married Elizabeth McCarty and Charles E. married Sarah Matheny, according to Illinois Marriage Records...Charles' son, Harvey Dwight, is the father of my late husband, Delbert Dwight.

So, you like the smileys do you?

heh heh... me too!

I remember, when I was a yonker, going to Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, and visited Hollywood & Vine. I have traveled so much in my short 50 years, that I forget sometimes, that most people never get to see what is across the state line. It has been a long time since I have been on a plane, I think it was '90 or '91...that was when I stopped flying, and from here, there are really only two ways to leave the state...well three, but I'd have to fly there to get on a ship.

Now, if one were to come to Alaska, one might see one of these

That little guy, was looking for something to eat out our back window of the house..mama moose was nearby. Or if one is looking out into the Cook Inlet from Anchorage, one might see a few of these..

Then of course, there is Mt. McKinley...

Taken atop Hatcher Pass just up the road from here about 15 miles.

But what I don't do is fly in one of these...

When asked, I tell folks, "Just because it may be your day to die in a plane, it may not be my day to. I'll pass."
Hmmm...well, we have some time to think about this reunion..
