My son has shown some interest in possibly racing in the near future. He is transitioning from a 16" to a 20" bike, so I figure now is the best time to consider buying him a 'better quality' bike if he does intend to start racing. He is a little over 4' (about 50 inches), so I thought a "junior" sized bike would be appropriate for him and something he can grow into for a few years.
I've called around to a few shops in the local area, and they stated they don't normally carry any "junior" sized bikes. Can anyone recommend any local shops that would carry an assortment of race bikes? I would like for him to try one out in person to see if it is a good fit rather just ordering one and hoping for the best.
I'm interested in new or used and have been looking periodically on craigslist. Just not a whole lot of junior sized bikes out there.
