Re: The Zombies

oh yeah, we loved the Zombies! I think, if I can recall correctly, that Chris envisioned "She's Not Worried" as a song that Colin Blunstone might not be uncomfortable singing. I am a huge fan of Odessey and Oracle (did I misspell that right?) and was very saddened when Paul Atkinson died after a Zombies reunion show earlier this year. And by the way, you are all #1 fans. We appreciate all the good questions and observations that are all over this board.

Re: Re: The Zombies

This is my 1st post on here, so let first off I just wanted to say hello. Peter, it's really cool that you post on here! Thanks for answering Adrian's question about The Zombies.

I just had a comment about "She's Not Worried". Maybe I should say this to Chris, but it always struck me as very Beach Boys-inspried (esp. that Brian Wilson-ish bass line) sort of in the vein of something from Pet Sounds like "That's Not Me" (i.e. maybe something Mike Love wouldn't be uncomfortable singing in the mid '60s), but then again some of the stuff on Odessey and Oracle(yes you spelled it correctly) is very Beach Boys-esque as well like "Care of Cell 44".

Re: Re: Re: The Zombies

Favorite Zombies song is "Imagine the Swan" which I used to have on a 45 (in anticipation of that jukebox). Just had to add that... and you're quite right about the Beach Boys as well. The bassline is very Carol Kaye, one of the great Carols of bass playing (the other being Carol Colman from Kid Creole--just awesome playing on so much of their stuff, and you know that's gotta be tough with August Darnell himself quite a bassist. Or is this a new thread?)

Re: Re: Re: Re: The Zombies

this is such an old thread that i'll not pretend that i'm probably just talking to myself.

...isn't "imagine the swan" thematically inspired by "caroline no." both a heartbeaking exploration of ideal and consequences.

unrelated...carol kaye played on every single thing she played on...including every single thing...

she's amazing, but, well...

be well, rich
