Re: Like This

Ha ha ha...er sorry couldn't help it. This has come up many times. It's never been reissued, but if you got a fat wallet you can pick up a copy at half.com for $133 . Now that definitely deserves a YIKES!!

Re: Like This

Amazon has several listed in the $60 range. It's a shame this record hasn't been re-released. I recently broke down and spent the money for the CD and haven't been disappointed. Still, wouldn't it be nice to buy it for around $20 and see the band actually get some of the money?

Somebody at Rhino oughta get their act together and reissue both "Like This" and "The Sound of Music".

Re: Re: Like This

Wow, $133, thanks for the info. I actually may have some part of the album that I taped off a Denver station in about 85 or 86, might try to dig it up. I saw the DBs open for REM at the U. of Colorado back then and was under the impression that Chris Stamey was lead singer on Love is for Lovers. Whoever the singer is it's his voice that I like, would that be Holsapple's?

Re: Re: Re: Like This

Yes, that would be me singing Love is for Lovers, which I also wrote. After Repercussion, most of the lead vocals and songwriting were by me, with the exceptions of "White Train" which Will sang lead on, and a couple songs on Paris Avenue. Glad you like my voice.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Like This

Thanks for the info. Just acquired Stamey's latest solo cd thinking his voice had mellowed after all these years, when in fact it was your voice that had that southern raw, yet still smooth, young quality that I liked (akin to Jason Riggenwald's but a tad mellower). Stamey and you produced some beautiful work, i.e. on Mavericks.

Will check out the Continental Drifters. I mostly like the melodic, yet rough around the edges rock of Love is for lovers and the harmonic beauty of, Don't ever lose the child in you.

Re: Re: Re: Like This

In that case, if you're not already aware of the band, may I recommend you pop over to www.continentaldrifters.com to acquaint yourself with a source of many other fine Holsapple vocals?

Phil
