For some unknown reason, copies of the magazine "Blender" began showing up at my door about three months ago. The latest, which arrived a couple of days ago, contains a section on New Wave. In one sub-section titled 'Amerindie: 1980-1988,' the mag lists several bands that it describes as successful "low-budget pop weirdos." The eight bands listed? the Violent Femmes, the Replacements, the Pixies, R.E.M., the Feelies, Pere Ubu, Pylon--and the dB's. A tip of the hat to the dB's (and the Feelies) for this dubious distinction!!
