The Amazing Influence of the dB's!

Well this is my 1st post. OK, 2nd, but the 1st day I've posted here. I do lurk a bit...

The dB's have formed the soundtrack to many many events in my life and continue to do so. I love everything from the writing to the performance, to the production of it all, especially the 1st 2 albums. But, I do love it all right now to the amazing stuff on Paris Ave.

I have 3 favorite bands: The Soft Boys (or Robyn Hitchcock), The Monochrome Set and the dB's. All super influencial. The Soft Boys regrouped a few years back and put on an incredible show when I saw them. I'll be seeing Bid of the Monochrome Set play in NYC at the Knitting Factory this Thursday (can't wait!). Now, in September the dB's are playing in Chicago! I will have to make arrangement to see this! Fantastic! Thanks for producing some of the best pop ever! Can't wait to see the show in Sept.

Re: The Amazing Influence of the dB's!

Nuppy,
Ohmygawd! Another Monochrome fan!! Is it really possible?
I have pretty much bought everything they've done with the exception of 'The Lost Weekend'.
Have you this CD? I've been looking for the past 10 years at least trying to find a copy. Do let me know.
I was just listening to 'Queen Elvis'this morning, after many years of not doing so.
I love Soft Boys as well and bought Kimberley Rew's new 'Essex Hideaway'.I've only listened once to it,and really should listen again and again, and it's pretty good(especially the long, heavy one at the end).
So glad we got similar(and obscure)tastes in music.

Btw,a young woman at a recent Glenn Tilbrook gig asked me who my fave all-time group was,and instead of saying the obvious,I did just that by stating the dB'S(as-matter-of-factly)and pretty much freaked her out as she couldn't believe her ears! Turns out they're one of her faves too and bought me a drink!
Thanks,dB's!!
Adrian

Adrian,

Yes, I have the Lost Weekend on cd (and lots of rare stuff). Apparently Warner screwed the boys and the Monochrome Set never got any royalities for that album.

If you are a MSet and a Soft Boys fan you might be very interested in this:

Very cool taste in music you have! Email me off list about the Lost Weekend.
