Re: Re: Maxwell's - Night One

Wish I had known what ya'll looked like! Would have been nice to put faces to all of these familiar names.

Re: Maxwell's - Night One

The keyboard player was the always-marvelous Andy Burton, mainstay of The Beat Goes On series that began at the Bottom Line years ago, though he's done much more than that. It was a pleasant surprise seeing him as the fifth member of the band. I wonder if it was him at the Chicago gigs as well.
Wonderful show all around, vocals a little ragged,Chris too low and Peter scraped raw, but the set was just a ton of fun from start to finish. The guitars sounded great, and Will and Gene were rock-solid. World To Cry fit right in with the rest of the set, and the other new songs, while not as hard-hitting, were enjoyable, too. Anybody see the new issue of Blender, with Black and White making the list of 500 Greatest Songs Since You Were Born?

Re: Re: Maxwell's - Night One

Great show. What was the name of the tune that featured lyrics "98.6, I'll be hot"?

Re: Re: Re: Maxwell's - Night One

"If and when."

Re: Re: Re: Re: Maxwell's - Night One

Thanks. I thought it might be based on the set list I sae for CHicago.

Re: Re: Re: Maxwell's - Night One

I believe "Santa Monica" was the announced name of Chris' new ("98.6", etc.) song.

Great show tonight (9/20) - so glad there are plans to continue. They played just about everything I could've hoped to have heard - excepting the venerable "Bad Reputation" (well, come to think of it, "I Thought You Wanted to Know","Think Too Hard", "Today Could Be the Day", and "Never Say When" would've been great to hear, also.) Chris was surprised to hear someone call out for "That Summer Sun." Andy Burton did a great job on keyboards...

Re: Re: Maxwell's - Night One

Andy Burton played Chicago too.

Re: Maxwell's - Night One

What time did the show end? I need to sort out my transportation options.
