Over last w/e my boy had a bad time and (you're right Celia) he told me it was time to go. The vets came on Monday and he slipped away so peacefully, you'd have thought he'd planned it all along.
Kim was my first greyhound, rehomed from Clark's Farm rescue in Essex. He was a top racer in his day.
I'd had lurchers before and assumed they were much the same, so I was very lucky with him, as he got on with all sizes and breeds of dogs from day one and has had beautiful teeth all his life. He had some less attractive traits but we'll gloss over those. He was such a brave wee soldier and so stoical towards the end, I couldn't be more proud of him.
So, he's gone to be reunited with Dylan and Charna on the far side but I still have my four wonderful GRF hounds, who keep me smiling through the tears.

Marion, we are SO sorry to hear that you have lost Kim

Yo did so much for him, and he knew how very loved he was. None of that, of course, makes the pain of his loss any easier to bear, and our love and thoughts are with you, and the rest of the gang, at this sad time.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Kim.
You are so correct - he indeed was a true gentleman - the perfect ambassador for his breed.
He couldn't talk so we'll talk for him. Thank you for taking him and giving him such a wonderful, happy life. He landed on his paws when he first met his mummy and it was happiness all the way.
RIP dear Kim. Run pain free across the bridge.

Marion, we are so sad to hear the news about your lovely boy. What a tribute you have given him. We know the pain you must be going through just now, but through time it will ease and you will look back and be able to smile again when you think of him. Lots of love from all of us.

Thanks to everyone for their kind messages, it's been a tough month.
Fiona and Stuart, Bryn says 'Hi' - he'll be 12 on 4th May and is getting to be quite the elderly gentleman himself, with a silvery face and sweet disposition. He rarely exceeds a brisk trot these days and majors in relaxation and (of course) food. We love him a lot. Best wishes to you all.

So sorry to hear about your loss. It is so difficult to cope with the loss of someone so devoted to you.

Very sorry for your loss Marion. I'm not sure we ever met Kim but even if not it felt like we knew him from the many times you talked so lovingly about the grand lad on the forum. You clearly gave him an enormous amount of care, attention and devotion through his 'old age' and ailments and I'm sure he was very grateful for that, he undoubtedly never wanted for anything, and what old grey wouldn't have appreciated that
