just came across this Spanish comic series:

Re: Sword and Sandal comics

Nice! Been a while since I've seen Brocal Remohi's art, too. Thanks for sharing that!

Re: Sword and Sandal comics

I'm well familiar with Jordi Bernet and Andrax, yes! :)

While I'm thinking about it, there's the unusual Condor, who started out as a sort of magical barbarian and morphed into a superhero -- https://www.comics.org/series/81786/covers/ -- and the Viking Ögan, who typically goes for the loincloth and cape combo (and why do I hear Edna Mode snapping "NO CAPES!" in my mind's ear?) -- https://comicvine.gamespot.com/ogan/4050-127189/ :)

Re: Sword and Sandal comics

His art is really amazing; alas, he only tackled Tarzan two or three times, which is unfortunate since he was definitely in the same league as Burne Hogarth for detail and action. I'd put André Chéret (artist for /Rahan/ and who as far as I know never drew a Tarzan comic other than one piece of fan-art, more's the pity) in that same category.

Re: Sword and Sandal comics

Yeah, I know what you mean. It feels like such a missed opportunity when an artist with that kind of talent only gets a brief shot at a character like Tarzan. Chéret especially had that same mix of energy and fluid motion that made Hogarth’s work so powerful. Seeing more of his take on Tarzan would’ve been incredible.
