Peter, et al, peace and good tidings! I've been meaning to write you for a while about the Hootie show at the Zoo here last year. It was terribly attended. I was embarassed for you guys; I wish to make an apology for people who of course I don't technically have proxy to speak for! The show was not advertised, period. No radio, no newspaper, and the two local freezines (I checked after the fact) had you listed in small print along with the local Karioke listings. I am a huge fan of Peter's and saw The dB's play at W C Don's twice in the 1980's. I'm also real fond of the Blowfish. I only made the show after a friend called me the day of the show asking if it was a misprint in the paper that Hootie was playing at the Zoo! I said it couldn't be true because if Hootie was playing in town it would be pretty well known, right? I have told this story twenty times to folks around here and they are all dumbfounded - no one knew about it. Anyway, I'm sure you haven't lost much sleep over it, but I wanted to vent and, again, thank you for reminding me never to lose the child in me!

Thanks John. I never worry about attendance with the Hootie shows, inasmuch as even on a bad night, there'll always be more people there than at most dB's shows in the past! WC Don's, now there are some memories! The toilet on the front porch, the big leaking pipe over the stage... and the beauty of the origin of the club name!

Thanks for the reply, Peter. Actually the most incredible thing about W C Dons is that it's back! The owner has his head together now. It's now a place with concrete floors and many bathrooms! Last night, Mike Mills and Webb Wilder played together there. Mike spends every Christmas here in Jackson and always finds an outlet! I want to see you here, and can guarantee you.
