chords, as best as I remember

There's a little figure on the 10th fret, played over a D in the bass, ending on an E

Verse chords are C/G/a minor/a minor/e minor/a minor
C/G/a minor/a minor/e minor/a minor/a minor/e minor/a minor

Prechorus: F/F/F/F/C/C/C/C/F/F/F/F/A major/A/A/

Chorus: a minor/a minor/e minor/e minor/ x 3
F/F/G/G/A major/A major

It looks slightly disjointed when printed in this way, but if you take those chords and play along to it, you'll see where the changes lie.

Enjoy, and welcome to the site!
Peter

Re: chords, as best as I remember

Thanks for that Jake and Peter! Very much appreciated I'm looking forward to the lyrics section! Although the vocals in the original recordings are mostly clear, there are places I could use the printed version!

After digging up my guitar (I'm in the middle of moving, so all my guitars are "inaccessible"), I started looking at the chords. They were a big help, especially the bit about the 10th fret D. I'd never have figured that one out.

A few things though:
- The G in the verse... should it be an E or is that just the bass? There's not enough guitar in the mix to properly hear it.
- The prechorus: Does it really end in A major? The bass again plays E, and the guitar is slightly fuzzy and indeterminable

Sorry to bother you with silly questions. I've been listening to Stands For Decibels/Repercussion in the car non-stop while moving. Definately my favorite CD at the moment!

Are you guys playing together again? Any chance of a scandinavian tour?

Kindest regards,
Hans Kristian

Re: Re: chords, as best as I remember

Yeah, it's a G over an E on the bass. Same with the A over the E in the bass. I love inversions, not enough people play stuff that's not the root. Gene Holder is a master of finding 'the note' that's not what you might expect, but is complementary to the chord played.

I sure hope we come to Scandinavia. I'm thinking of trying to come over there sometime and play shows under my own name, but I'd need to put a record out again sometime soon. And you all know what a slacker I am about that.....

By the way, I don't know which issue of those albums you have, but the Collectors' Choice one from a few years ago is the remixed, remastered I.R.S. versions. Line has reissued stuff on us for years that has a lot of qualities to the sonics that are rather suspect.

Thanks, Hans. Good luck with your move. You know who your friends are: they're the ones who show up and help you move your junk.

Re: Re: Re: chords, as best as I remember

Thanks for that! I must say I'm a sucker for inversions too, play them as much as I'm allowed by the rest of the band Bass is my main instrument.

I'd love to see you in Norway! I'll be keeping an eye on the website, I guess any plans for a tour will be posted here.

I have the Collector's Choice version, and it sounds great. I just ordered Paris Avenue yesterday, so I'm looking forward to hearing it! Any chance Collector's Choice or anyone else will be releasing Like This and The Sound Of Music?

And the move is finished. Now there's just the unpacking... and broadband installation... and the everlasting fight with my wife about where to keep my instruments... I was forced to take my two plastic Bontempi organs out of the house, along with the accordion, but oh well. It all works out in the end!

Regards,
Hans Kristian

Hey Peter....

Whenever you hop the ocean...don`t forget about another country... ;-)

And by the way...we would never dare to say you`re a slacker...all we can do is wait... ;-)

Good luck!

Don't work on the chords while you're driving
