Grant (G.W.) from Go-Betweens is gonna play in heaven

Hi gang,
Unfortunately Grant from the Go-Betweens passed away in his sleep over the weekend according to local media.
One of the true believers of the dB's and I'm sure you'll all send good wishes to his family and friends.
Mad, how those Brisbane kids thought along the same lines as our heroes here but maybe sometimes they covered similar turf. I'd really like to hear "Lee Remick" mixed up with "Bad Reputation", both broaching unattainable, yet, respected women.

I'm sure there will be mor eulogies to come,

scotney

Oh my-I'm just sick. I'm on gbs mailing list and haven't received any post yet. I missed the last 2 gbs U.S. tours, but caught them on the first u.s. "reunion" tour in Chicago and Los Angeles. Also caught Grant 3 times solo. What a fantastic artist, singer, performer. This is such sad news.

That's so incredibly sad. Grant was a gifted writer and a sweet soul, and he will be missed by his friends and fans.

If you're looking for a good place to start listening to his music, get 16 Lovers Lane by the Go Betweens and marvel at the sublime elegance of the writing of Grant McLennan and Robert Forster.

RE: Grant MacLennan R.I.P.

Amen... The dB's shared a bill with the Go-Betweens in 1981 at the Ritz in NYC. I played one or two gigs in a subsequent band with Robert Vickers, who in 1997 or so recruited me to play a few songs with Forster and MacLennan at Fez in NYC. A memorable time was had by me, and hopefully by Grant. I can't say I knew him, but he was a very talented songwriter. Safe travels, Grant.
