Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: What cover would you choose?

Peter, your comment about "Whipping Post" inspires my reply. Two weeks ago I was in Black Mountain, NC for the Spring LEAF (Lake Eden Arts Festival). On Saturday I wandered into Eden Hall to listen to Bonerama: four trombones, a tuba, one guitar player (quite good), and a drummer. Most of the music was New Orleans jazzy, horn-sounding stuff . . . then they broke into Whipping Post. I've not listened to that tune in years. It was a fun diversion.

OK, on to covers. How about an Adrian Belew cover, maybe "Oh Daddy" ??

Bonerama

Awesome band, aren't they? Mark Mullins played on the last Continental Drifters' album, and Craig Klein heads up the Arabi Wrecking Krewe who have been gutting houses for musicians in the New Orleans area post-Katrina.

Check them out if you want to hear something entirely different.

what cover...

Historical footnotes re:
requested covers + The dBs musical relatives:

Sneakers covered "I Am Your Doctor"
The H-Bombs covered "Baby Blue"
Secret Service covered "Do Anything You Want to Do"

Just amusing coincidents?

Re: what cover...

If I recall, at one of the db's shows years back (or it could have been Holsapple & Stamey show) they did a cover of the Lovin' Spoonfuls "Do you believe in Magic" which was just that...magic.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: What cover would you choose?

Peter, thanks for the props. Although he says he doesn't remember, Chris assisted with a critical transition during the Cresent City recording session of "I Am Your Doctor". Look for "Doctor" on SI's MySpace page soon.

Re: What cover would you choose?

"Porpoise Song" by The Monkees

(when I was a kid I first heard this on the local college radio station and thought it was the dB's... thought it was some import b-side I didn't have, then they announced it was the theme to the rarely seen - in 1981 - Monkees movie Head...)

Re: What cover would you choose?

one song I've recently "rediscovered" that I think would be a neat cover for the dB'S to do would be 'ew Little Girl' by Off Broadway.Great powerpop RnR!

Re: What cover would you choose?

Should've read 'New Little Girl'
