Re: Live Mavericks?

We have a really great batch of DATs from a show we did at the Knitting Factory in support of Mavericks. There was a point a few years ago when we were sorting through the takes and deciding what would be good. We got sidetracked by the new album, the dB's reunion and the reissue. But they do exist, they sound good, there are some of the covers we did live... and they will see the light of day at some point. When, I couldn't say. The only thing standing in the way of their release is the artists' reluctance to have too many records out at the same time, competing for the dwindling Yankee dollar.

Re: Re: Live Mavericks?

i remember that mavericks show at cat's cradle when it came through town. what an inspiring show. first time i ever had the pleasure to formally meet chris and peter, worked my way backstage. i was so much bolder then about trying to meet my musical heroes. now, i'm a wilting sissy. i think i even chased will rigby down in the parking lot that night to sign my copy of "stands for decibels". i'm kind of embarrassed now about it! but it did eventually lead to me playing shoulder to shoulder with chris over the next few years when he relocated back down south. for that, i'm grateful.

Re: Live Mavericks?

That's great news about the live recordings Peter. Also, I believe there was a radio broadcast of live in the studio stuff that maybe be floating around out there.

Re: Re: Live Mavericks?

Thank you, Peter, for your kind & informative reply. We will continue in "standby" mode in regard to the live Mavericks material. It's good to know this stuff will see the light of day eventually.

By the way, we saw Mitch Easter, Shalini and the Tim Lee 3 last Saturday 9/22. They were great, Shalini played a bunch of songs from her new CD. On the ride to the show I tried to clue some friends in about the greatness of the dB's, but more exposure will be required.

Re: Re: Live Mavericks?

I have a copy of a live Mavericks performance on Idiot's Delight from around the time of the album's release. I got it from someone off e-bay who also sold me several dB's live shows from varying years. There also was a live LA radio show performance near the end of the group. Peter and Will are the only original members.
