Broad St. Cafe, Durham, Saturday Jan. 5

Hi everyone

If you're in town here (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Bunn, Saxapahaw, etc.), I'm playing at the Broad Street Cafe tomorrow night.

Should be a great show, with openers Sweet By and By, an all-women bluegrass quartet and headliner Peter Lang (an accomplished fingerstyle guitar player--think Leo Kottke and John Fahey, two old labelmates of his).

The show starts at 8pm, admission is $13 in advance and $15 at the door. It's a benefit for First in Families NC, a wonderful and helpful organization.

See you there.

Re: Broad St. Cafe Set List

Peter played an inspired set to a packed house tonight at the Broad Street Cafe. The set consisted of songs from the dB's, Continental Drifters, and a couple from "Mavericks." Here is the set list:

1. Not Cool
2. Big Brown Eyes
3. A Song for You (Gram Parsons cover)
4. Invisible Boyfriend
5. Angels
6. She Was the One
7. Poor Little Donkey (requested by Peter's wife)
8. World to Cry (definitely an emotional highlight)
9. I Want to Learn to Waltz with You
10. Daddy Just Wants It to Rain
11. Amplifier ("A song of black humor, before there was irony" -PH)

I would be remiss not to mention the incredible harmonies of Sweet By and By and the impeccable guitar work of Peter Lang (who was celebrating a birthday).
